Military Accidents

Any employer in the United Kingdom is obligated to protect all its employees. The Ministry of Defence is no exception, as it is duty bound to protect all its employees where they may be stationed around the world. You may be entitled to make a military accident compensation claim if you end up suffering or being injured as a result of a military accident if this duty of care was not fully carried out.

Military personnel are inherently at higher risk considering their profession. The Ministry of Defence does not settle claims for military accident injuries if personnel may have sustained during conflict. It is only responsible for ensuring that as employees, you have a safe environment to work in. This safety is ensured through training, supervision, safety inspected equipment, and through working with highly trained co-workers. It is the Ministry of Defence’s legally binding duty to limit the occurrence accidents during these phases.

The environments in which personnel work in present a variety of hazards. Working with weapons, doing mountaineering exercises, physical instruction courses, and warfare training can create ample opportunity for accidents to occur. These jobs carry health risks when the employer has not ensured the safety of its employees. You should immediately contact a solicitor with extensive military accident compensation experience as they are well versed in the complexities of military injury claims.

Besides injuries that happen during the training phases, personnel can also file a military accident claim under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme. This scheme compensates injuries occurred while stationed overseas, allowing you to claim an equivalent military accident compensation compared to that which you would receive if you were stationed at home.

Keep in mind that there is normally a three year time limit from the date of the injury for which to file your military accident claim. If you can prove that the Ministry of Defence was negligent in ensuring your safety, and that you sustained injuries on account of them, then it does not matter where you were stationed at the time. Get in touch with an experienced solicitor to make sure that you receive the compensation you deserve for your military injuries.
