Public Transport Accident Claims

Accidents on public transport

Accidents on public transport include accidents that happen on a bus, train, tube, tram, taxi, ferry or boat.

There are regulations in place to protect passengers using public transport.  If you have been injured whilst using public transport, as a fare paying passenger, you could be entitled to compensation.

Who do I claim against?

Where health and safety regulations have been breached (including a lack of duty of care), or there is any negligence that has caused the accident, then you may be able to claim against the public transport company.

In the event of a road traffic collision, where one of the drivers involved in the incident is responsible for causing the accident, you may be able to claim directly against that driver’s vehicle insurers.

How much can I claim?

The amount you can claim will depend on the type and severity of your injuries – use our claim calculator to see the brackets specified by the JC Guidelines.

You can also claim for any related losses such as property damage, time of work, rehabilitation and care and assistance costs.
